She is Susan Boyle, a 47 year-old-woman. She sang at “Britain’s Got Talent 2009” with a dowdy appearance. Almost all of the audience initially sniggered at her. But after a second when she song “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Miserables, every single listener was really impressed. Her performance drew a standing ovation and gasps of admiration from an audience.

At the first time I hear her singing this song, I thought that I was in tears

This song has been popular in the Les Miserables musical theatre. “I dreamed a Dream” is a solo sung by Fantine during the first act (Fantine is left alone, unemployed and destitute). Most of the music is soft and melancholy, but towards the end becomes louder and taut with frustration and anguish; as she cries aloud about the wretched state of her life and her unfair mistreatment.

“I dreamed a Dream” popularized by Susan Boyle.

Here's the lyric:
“I dreamed a Dream”
Les Miserables

There was a time when men were kind,
And their voices were soft,
And their words inviting.
There was a time when love was blind,
And the world was a song,
And the song was exciting.
There was a time when it all went wrong...

I dreamed a dream in time gone by,
When hope was high and life worth living.
I dreamed that love would never die,
I dreamed that God would be forgiving.
Then I was young and unafraid,
And dreams were made and used and wasted.
There was no ransom to be paid,
No song unsung, no wine untasted.

But the tigers come at night,
With their voices soft as thunder,
As they tear your hope apart,
And they turn your dream to shame.

He slept a summer by my side,
He filled my days with endless wonder...
He took my childhood in his stride,
But he was gone when autumn came!

And still I dream he'll come to me,
That we will live the years together,
But there are dreams that cannot be,
And there are storms we cannot weather!

I had a dream my life would be
So different from this hell I'm living,
So different now from what it seemed...
Now life has killed the dream I dreamed...

Tears also fell down on my cheeks when I saw the video. I think she's better than some of the famous singers. Her voice is wonderful no wonder why she received the standing ovation.

btw, how about link-ex? I'll link you up now. hehehehe...

I'd like to use 'I Dreamed a Dream as my audition song, but I don't know if it's proper for a singer like me. My range is, assuming middle C is C4, F2 (though I prefer not to sing so low as it rather strains my voice) to A5.
